the Extraordinary Achievements of

Stephanie Welsch-Lewin '88
2013 President of the Year
25 or Less Years Out

In just four short years as class president, Stephanie, you have led the '88s from a time of stagnancy into a period of thriving alumni community and active engagement. Before you took the reins, the Class of 1988 had not completed its annual class activity report. This year, the '88s submitted the longest and most robust report in the history of class activities. In fact, the file was so large that it broke the College's database! This is just one small example of how, under your leadership, the Class of 1988 has pushed the limits of engagement and raised the bar high for all of Dartmouth's alumni classes.

Your service to Dartmouth and to your class sets the standard for volunteer leadership. Having served simultaneously as president and 25th reunion chair, the amount of time and energy you have dedicated to the cause of engaging your classmates is unprecedented. You understand how to get things done and you are always willing to reach out to other volunteers to offer guidance and support. Likewise, you have been a passionate advocate and mentor for our undergraduate students. Your volunteer efforts are clearly rooted in a genuine love of the College and a deep commitment to strengthening the bonds among all members of the Dartmouth community.

During your tenure as president, you motivated a team of talented individuals to coordinate their efforts towards a common goal; the results have been extraordinary. The '88s have achieved top marks in every area of class performance from professional-quality newsletters and well-attended mini-reunions to a strong web presence and a remarkable giving percentage. Your team spearheaded the Daughters of Dartmouth initiative and pioneered an online reunion book. You also shattered the 25th reunion attendance record and, to top it all off, put those Princeton Tigers to shame by achieving a Dartmouth College Fund participation rate of 79.1 percent--an all-Ivy League record.

You have used your marketing savvy to help turn the Class of 1988 into a premium brand. We are delighted that you will continue your volunteer service as president emeritus and mini-reunion chair in addition to taking on the new role of Dartmouth parent as your son Aaron joins the Class of 2017. Stephanie, we are honored to present you with your second President of the Year award. Congratulations!
