From celebrations to symposia, Dartmouth has hosted dozens of events around the country to honor its 250th anniversary in 2019. In September, the College will take the festivities overseas with a major event in London.

Drawing alumni, family, and friends from throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Dartmouth at 250: The Global Summit will feature three days of programming from September 27 through 29. Highlights include a discussion of Dartmouth’s strategic vision with President Philip J. Hanlon ’77 and academic leaders; lectures from Dartmouth faculty on topical issues ranging from climate change to international security; and celebrations in London’s skyscraper The Shard as well as historic Guildhall.

The Back-to-Class panels will feature Dartmouth faculty and administrators, alumni who are experts in their fields, and others. Panel topics are Trade Wars, Innovation for Social Good, Winter is Leaving, Epidemics and Pandemics, Emerging Challenges to European Security, and Resilient, Sustainable Energy.

Attendees will also have the chance to join faculty members in private visits to sights around London, from a backstage tour of the Globe Theatre, to a visit to the Cabinet War Rooms, to a behind-the-scenes look at the British Museum.

The summit, first in a series of four international events planned for late 2019 and early 2020, will highlight the College’s growing role on the global stage and the fact that its community members hail from—and make impact in—all corners of the world.

“The international Dartmouth community is amazing,” says Chair of the Board of Trustees Laurel J. Richie ’81. “We’ve met with alumni and parents around the world seeking their thoughts and guidance on Dartmouth's strategic vision. They show up. They care. They share our high aspirations for Dartmouth.”

Following the London event, Dartmouth will host Global Summits in Hong Kong (on Dec. 6-8), Toronto, and Lima, Peru. More details are available on The Call to Lead website.
