Organization Description

Kigo Asian Kitchen is an Asian-inspired, fast casual restaurant chain with five (soon to be six) locations across Seattle and Boston.  Founded by a team of students while they were studying at Tuck, Kigo's mission is to fuel the fire in every body.  We do this through nutritious, made-to-order meals that take advantage of the numerous healthful benefits of many Asian traditions, combined with local, natural and organic ingredients.  We also work hard to fuel the fire of our team members, with an explicit mission to provide jobs and opportunities to the marginalized members of our community, such as disconnected youth and formerly incarcerated citizens.

Internship Position Description

Kigo is seeking an intern with an entrepreneurial spirit and an interest in getting their hands dirty with a small company that has big aspirations.  While we do not yet have a specific project in mind for an internship, the few projects we are considering will all be meaningful contributors to the growth of the company.  Whether it is helping us to define and implement a kiosk-based ordering platform, creating a customer loyalty program that is more robust than our current system, or spearheading an effort to expand the reach of our fast-growing catering business, we will work with the selected intern to define a project that is both meaningful to them, as well as something that will actually be implemented by our company as a result of his or her efforts.  Beyond the core project, an intern will be expected to spend some time getting to know the work of the team, by spending the first few days of their internship in the restaurants.  This is to ensure a deeper understanding of how their project will tie into the bigger picture, and how decisions the intern will be helping us make will impact the jobs and experience of our team and customers.

Desired Qualifications

We are seeking a self-starting individual that wants to engage in a meaningful project to improve and accelerate the growth of a start-up oriented company.  The actual area of academic focus is less important to us, but the willingness to wear a few different hats over the course of the summer will be critical.  Individuals with interest in entrepreneurship, restaurants, food and beverage, or consumer businesses will gain valuable experience through their work at Kigo. Interest in or prior engagement with entrepreneurial efforts while studying at Dartmouth will be considered a strong positive.

Organization Description

Madrona is an early-stage, information technology focused venture capital firm based in Seattle Washington. Internship Position Description

The summer intern role will include a mix of evaluating new investment opportunities, supporting existing investments and assisting in developing future investment themes. It is expected to also include a specific project for one portfolio company in an area of mutual interest. The two main deliverables for the summer will be the portfolio company project and an investment map for an emerging investment theme of mutual interest.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have some background in computer and/or data science.  Additional areas of experience could include product management, user-centered design, and financial modeling/analytics.  In addition, the candidate will benefit from having extreme curiosity about customer problems and an entrepreneurial mindset about how to solve those problems better than they have ever been solved before. Finally, being comfortable and confident engaging with a broad mix of talented people is a key qualification as the selected summer intern will regularly be interacting with entrepreneurs and their teams.
