In Pursuit of Excellence

Dartmouth College Recognizes with Deep Appreciation the Extraordinary Achievements of

Demetra Navab Taleghani ’94
2019 Class President of the Year – 25 Years Out and Younger

Deme, your leadership and continued dedication have inspired your class to achieve a successful 25th Reunion year. In addition to its highest-ever Reunion attendance, the Class of 1994 successfully surpassed 50 percent Dartmouth College Fund participation, with a record number of classmates giving. A Reunion gift of $3.6 million was the largest gift the class has ever made to the Dartmouth College Fund—seven times larger than its gift in 2018.

You were instrumental in galvanizing efforts across all groups and working closely with every volunteer leader. To create the best Reunion planning and gift committees possible, you held weekly phone calls with the Reunion chair and treasurer, as well as regular meetings with the head agents. Collectively, the Reunion committees involved more than 50 people spanning fraternities and sororities, affinity groups, and sports teams.

Throughout the year, you inspired new engagement and meaningful conversations—about Dartmouth, the Dartmouth experience, the Dartmouth College Fund, and philanthropy—in unique ways. Your class’s popular weekly Flashback Friday emails included pictures from the Freshman Book, provoking friendly competition to name the most freshmen. You also reported on participation levels by first year dorm, current state of residence, first initial of the first name, and gender, using graphics and fun facts.

Deme, it is with the greatest pride that the Class President’s Association honors you as the 2019 Class President of the Year.
